Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Salifu Ibrahim has been left out of the Benin squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The 25-year-old hopes on featuring at the continental showpiece has been dashed, after being excluded from the 30-man provisional lists released by head coach Gernot Rohr on Wednesday.
Despite representing Ghana at various levels, Salifu switched his nationality to play for the country of his father.
Upon nationality switch, the FC Drita midfielder earned his first call up for the November international break, but could not mark his debut for the Squirrels.
Unfortunately, the former Techiman Eleven Wonders captain has been left out of the Benin’s squad for the much-anticipated AFCON tournament to be staged in Morocco.
The 35th edition of the continental showpiece has been scheduled to take place in the North African country between December 2025 and January 2026, with 24 nations set to battle for the covetous trophy.
Benin has been paired in Group D against DR Congo, Botswana and Senegal at the continental showpiece, to be held in the North African country.
