Attacker Enoch Asubonteng was named Man of the Match after his crucial strike secured a 1-0 victory for Hearts of Oak against Eleven Wonders in the Ghana Premier League on Friday night.
The 17th-minute goal came from a goalmouth scramble following a corner kick, with Asubonteng showing composure to fire the ball home and give the Phobians an early lead. Hearts of Oak maintained their advantage throughout the match, holding on for a second consecutive 1-0 win, having recorded the same scoreline against Dreams FC in their previous outing.
The win temporarily lifts Hearts of Oak to the top of the Premier League table with seven points from three games, while Eleven Wonders remain without a point after three matches.
"Winning this game is very good. The game was very tough, but we stuck to our game plan, and that’s how we won the game. It’s very early in the season, so we cannot say we will win the league, but we are taking it match after match," Asubonteng said.
Asubonteng will hope to maintain his form in the club's next game, which is a difficult one against Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Fosu Park.
