Ghanaian champions Bibiani GoldStars have set off for Algeria as they prepare for their decisive CAF Champions League Second Round, Leg 2 clash against Algerian giants JS Kabylie on Sunday.
The Miners, making their maiden appearance in the continental inter-club competition, will hope to overturn a 2-0 first-leg deficit suffered at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday.
Despite a spirited effort in front of their home fans, costly defensive lapses saw them punished, leaving their qualification hopes hanging in the balance.
The playing body, along with the technical and management team, departed Ghana on Thursday morning aboard Turkish Airlines.
The team will first transit in Istanbul before connecting to Algiers.
GoldStars are travelling in two batches, with the first contingent leaving on Thursday while the second group joins them in Istanbul on Friday.
A total of 42 members are making the trip.
Upon arrival in Algeria, the Ghanaian champions will continue their preparations before holding their mandatory training session at the match venue on Saturday.
Interim coach Nana Amankwah, who has been tasked with leading the side following the dismissal of head coach Frimpong Maxwell, will be in the dugout as the Miners chase history.
GoldStars must score at least twice without conceding to force extra time or secure a remarkable comeback victory to advance to the next stage of the competition.
