Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko admitted his side had to dig deep in their hard-fought 2-1 win over Dreams FC at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Friday evening.
The victory, sealed by a dramatic stoppage-time own goal, lifted Medeama to the top of the Ghana Premier League table, but it didn’t come easy. Tanko described the game as “very tough,” acknowledging that his team struggled to find rhythm in the first half.
Despite their early dominance, Medeama’s lead from Abdul Salam’s 19th-minute strike was cancelled out just before halftime when Dreams FC defender Christian Owusu equalized from a set piece. The visitors looked set to take home a point until Medeama’s relentless pressure forced an own goal in the 92nd minute.
"Very tough. Especially in the first half, we didn't do well. We didn't keep the ball very well. We lost a lot of ball. But I think in the second half because of the changes we did, we had a very smooth, second half. And I think and this is kind of game that you have to win even if you are not in good form. So I congratulate the boys," he said after the game.
Medeama next face Samartex in their upcoming league clash.
