Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has commended the officiating standards in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, expressing his satisfaction with the referees’ performance thus far.
The Ghana FA Cup champions have reached the quarter-finals of the competition, marking the first time in two decades that a Ghanaian side has achieved this feat.
As they gear up to face 2009 champions Stade Malien, coach Zito attributes their success partly to the fair officiation throughout the tournament.
Zito underscored the significance of impartial officiating, noting its role in creating a level playing field for all teams.
He highlighted the convenience his team has experienced on the road, with comfortable victories in away matches, a testament to the improved flexibility compared to previous campaigns.

Reflecting on his team’s performance, Zito expressed his satisfaction with the referees’ decisions.
“Playing in Africa is fantastic. I played to the highest level during my playing time and have seen a lot of things. As a coach, I led King Faisal to Africa but unfortunately, we exited in the first round. One of the most important things in the ongoing season is officiating, the referees are not saint but they are closer to saints because they have performed extremely well”
“I went to Angola and scored three goals, it stood and that gives every team the motivation to perform. The referees have been fair so far and its making the competition better” he told Kessben FM.
Despite their achievements, Zito remains focused on maintaining their impressive form as they prepare to take on their next opponent. With the first leg of the quarter-finals scheduled for Sunday, March 31, and the second leg to follow a week later in Kumasi, Dreams FC are gearing up for a crucial encounter.
The upcoming match in Mali is set to kick off at 17:00 GMT, as Dreams FC aims to continue their journey towards the business end of the competition.
