Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has broken down his team's important 2-1 victory over Nations FC, highlighting the performance as exactly what a genuine league contender needs to produce.
The hard-fought win at TNA Stadium in Tarkwa marked Medeama's third victory in four Ghana Premier League matches this season, pushing them to second place in the standings with nine points, just one behind leaders Kpando Heart of Lions.
"It was a really tough game," Tanko analyzed in his post-match press conference. "The first 30 minutes was really good from us, we created chances, we scored one. I think we should have been two or three [goals] up."
The Medeama boss emphasised the championship significance of securing three points in such challenging encounters, stating definitively: "This is the kind of game you have to win if you have to fight for the league."
The victory represents a strong statement from the Tarkwa-based club as they aim to reclaim the league title they last won two seasons ago, having finished outside the top four in their subsequent two campaigns.
