Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been included in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali, despite his pending court appearance in London.
The 32-year-old Arsenal player is due to reappear in court on September 2 over rape charges, just two days before Ghana face Chad in N’Djamena. Four days later, the Black Stars will host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Partey’s availability had been in doubt, but he is expected to join the national team camp and captain the side for both fixtures. His inclusion comes as a major boost for Ghana, who currently top Group I of the African qualifiers with 15 points from six matches.
With a place at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico at stake, Partey’s leadership and experience will be crucial as Ghana push to secure their spot at the global tournament.
