English-born Ghanaian forward Daniel Adu-Adjei has sealed a permanent transfer from English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth to Croatian outfit HNK Rijeka in a deal worth around 1.2 million Pounds.
The 19-year-old striker, who rose through Bournemouth’s academy system, will travel to Croatia on Monday to undergo his medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.
Adu-Adjei has been tipped as one of Ghana’s most promising young forwards, and the move is seen as a crucial step towards gaining regular first-team experience.
Despite enjoying a prolific spell with Bournemouth’s Development Squad - where he scored 25 goals in just 16 matches during the 2024/25 campaign - opportunities in the Cherries’ senior side remained limited.
With competition for attacking places fierce in the Premier League, Adu-Adjei and his representatives decided a switch abroad would provide the platform for consistent game time and development.
Rijeka, one of Croatia’s most competitive clubs, offers Adu-Adjei the chance to test himself at a high level while also gaining exposure to European competitions.
The Croatian league has long been a launchpad for talented youngsters to grow before moving to bigger European stages, making it a smart career choice.
This transfer represents a new chapter for the highly-rated youngster - a chance to prove himself, refine his skills, and stake his claim as a rising Ghanaian star abroad.
