Kofi Adams calls for urgent protection of Borteyman Sports Complex land
[caption id=attachment_1236703 align=alignnone width=561] Kofi Adams[/caption]Sports Minister Kofi Adams has stressed the need to protect the undeveloped portions of land at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.During a visit to the facility yesterday alongside LOC Chairman Dr. Kwaku Ofosu, the Minister warned land encroachers to stay clear of the area. His comments come as concerns grow over illegal occupation of lands meant for national sports infrastructure.The Borteyman Sports Complex, developed for the 13th African Games, is a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary facility that includes an aquatic center, football pitch, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, and arenas for basketball, handball, and netball.Of course the facility is a big facility we have we have the aquatic center is one of the best in Africa I have traveled round after becoming the minister. I have traveled to South Africa I have been to Tanzania I have been to Nigeria I have been to a couple of areas I haven't come across any facility that is of this caliber, as aired by Peace FMIndeed Ghana has been given opportunity to host swimming competition back to back because of this facility that we have here. Other multipurpose dooms that we have in there that can host indoor games basketball, handball, netball, tennis indoor tennis, outdoor tennis court and so on, the football pitch, the warmup tracks and offices so much has been done.But there is still a lot to be done and that is why this land must be protected so we can complete what is left to be done to make this really a complete sports eco system it could become even a sports city.
