"I thought he would have waited"- Watford legend Troy Deeney on Antoine Semenyo's new deal
Former Watford and England player, Troy Deeney, has reacted to Antoine Semenyo's decision to extend his stay at AFC Bournemouth.The Ghana international signed a new that will keep him at the Vitality Park till the summer of 2030 despite huge interest from top clubs in England.Semenyo was reported to be on the radar of Liverpool and Manchester United in the summer transfer window but the 25-year-old decided to stay.Deeney believes the deal was a good one to avoid although he expected him to hang on for at least few more weeks before making the decision.Yes, you've got to get a new deal because you have to get paid while you play well, he responded when asked if it was a good deal. I thought he would have waited one more month, see what was there, see what happens, he added.But I have been there as a player, when somebody puts that contract with that money in front of you, it is very difficult to say no.Semenyo has been one of Bournemouth's best players in the last two seasons, scoring 19 Premier League goals across the two campaigns.
