NPP left GH¢ 120,000 debt at the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly
Nkawkaw, Nov. 7, GNA - Mr Alex Somuah Obeng, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Nkawkaw, on Wednesday stated that the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly for the past four years had paid a debt of GH¢120,000 left over by the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
He said apart from the payment of that huge debt, the Assembly managed to complete 68 development projects.
The projects include construction of classroom blocks, markets, places of convenience as well as rehabilitation of feeder roads. Others were the sinking of boreholes and extension of electricity to a number of communities.
Mr Obeng, who is also the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kwahu West, disclosed this when he launched his parliamentary campaign at Nkawkaw.
He said the projects were financed from the assembly’s share of the District Assembly Common Fund, the District Development Fund and Internally Generated Fund.
Mr Obeng said he had been staying in his private residence since he assumed office as the MCE without taking any rent allowance from the Assembly.
He urged supporters of the party and people in the constituency to vote for him in the December polls to continue the development projects in the Municipality to improve their living standard.
The Eastern Regional Propaganda Secretary of the party, Mr Solomon Nkansah said the NPP promised free Senior High School (SHS) education policy would not be feasible as the needed infrastructure was not available for its implementation.
Mr Nkansah said the NDC would win the upcoming polls “one touch”.
