
KNUST Chapter of Achimota Old Students Association (OAA) is mourning the death of one of its members and final-year Biological Sciences student, Joanna Yabani Deladem.
A student released by Francis Agyare-Yeboah, President of the Chapter said the deceased belonged to the OAA 2021, SOA House.
The Association urged the relevant authorities to conduct a full-scale investigation to establish the facts and ensure justice.
OAA-KNUST further expressed grief and condolences over the death of Joanna.
We stand in solidarity with her family, friends, the OAA 2021 Year Group, and the entire Old Achimota fraternity in this time of grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with them,” the statement said.
A vigil will be held in honor of the deceased with further details to be announced later.
Meanwhile, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has issued an update on the tragic murder of final-year Biological Sciences student, Joana Deladem Yabani, confirming the arrest of a suspect believed to be the mastermind behind the gruesome act.
According to the university’s latest statement, the suspect, a fellow student who resided in the same hostel as the deceased, was apprehended by the Regional Police.
The arrest follows an extensive review of CCTV footage, which provided critical evidence. Authorities also found clothing worn during the crime in the suspect’s possession, which has been retrieved as evidence.
In response to the tragic incident, KNUST, in collaboration with the Regional Police Command led by the IGP, has significantly boosted security across campus.
