Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, has assured citizens that the upcoming 2025 budget will be a blueprint for economic growth, development, and expanded opportunities for all Ghanaians.
In a Facebook post marking the 10-day countdown to the budget presentation on Tuesday, March 11, the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP reiterated the government’s commitment to economic resilience, social progress, and shared prosperity.
“As we enter this final phase of preparations, our focus remains steadfast on delivering a budget that fosters growth, development, and opportunities for all,” Ato Forson stated.
With expectations high, the Ghanaian public and business community are looking forward to a budget that addresses pressing economic challenges. Among the key areas of concern are:
- Lower tax burden, higher growth: Business owners, particularly SMEs, are hoping for corporate tax reductions and simpler tax filing processes to free up resources for reinvestment, job creation, and market expansion.
- Access to affordable credit: Many entrepreneurs struggle to secure affordable loans due to high interest rates and strict collateral requirements. Business owners are calling for policies that make financing more accessible to support expansion.
- Infrastructure development: Poor infrastructure has increased operational costs and hindered business growth. Stakeholders expect the government to prioritize road networks, energy supply, and digital infrastructure to enhance productivity.
- Support for local industries: High production costs have made it difficult for local manufacturers to compete with imports. Entrepreneurs are pushing for policies that promote local production and reduce reliance on foreign goods.
- Stable exchange rates and controlled inflation: Currency fluctuations and rising inflation continue to threaten businesses. Many expect the budget to introduce measures aimed at stabilizing the cedi and ensuring price stability.
With just days to go, all eyes will be on Parliament on March 11, where Ato Forson will unveil the government’s financial roadmap for the year ahead.
The business community, in particular, is hopeful that the 2025 budget will bring meaningful reforms to drive growth, innovation, and resilience in Ghana’s economy.
