Founder and leader of Action People’s Party, Kenneth Nana Kwame Asamoah, has criticized the ruling new patriotic party (NPP), stressing that the party has deserted the Ashanti Region in terms of development.
He has accused President Akufo-Addo’s administration of neglecting the development of the Region, despite their consistent support for NPP in elections.
Ashanti Region over the years has been the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party as the party has constantly won presidential elections and several parliamentary seats.
The party currently holds 42 out of the 47 parliamentary seats in the Region against the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) 4 seats and one independent candidate.
Yet, the people in the Region appear to have been complaining about lack of infrastructural development under NPP administrations.
Nana Kwame Asamoah, speaking on Onua 95.1 FM Etifi Nsem show, Saturday March 16, criticised President Akufo-Addo for deliberately depriving the Region of resources for infrastructural projects.
He asserted that the NPP leadership has taken the Ashanti people for granted because they believe that the party will win almost all the seats in the region by hook or by crook.
“NPP as a party needs nothing from the Ashanti’s except votes, so whether the Ashanti region would develop or not they don’t care and that is why this government has nothing to show in terms of development in the Region. Go to Ashanti Region, all road construction projects have stalled and so I can say that the NPP has taken the Ashanti’s for granted,” he stated.
The APP leader urged the electorate to consider voting out NPP in the forthcoming polls as the party has nothing to offer the Region.
