Dutch-Ghanaian midfielder Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere made the difference as Zhejiang Professional earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over Qingdao West Coast in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
Owusu-Sekyere started on the bench but was called into action in the 40th minute to replace Alexandru Mitrita. His arrival lifted Zhejiang’s attack, and the fans traveling to Qingdao felt the shift immediately.
After a goalless first half, the midfielder found his moment in the 65th minute. With a burst of energy, he cut into the box and smashed a left-footed shot high into the net, sparking wild celebrations among his teammates. It was a goal that not only broke the deadlock but also showed his sharp instinct and composure.
Qingdao pushed forward, enjoying more of the ball with 53% possession, but failed to trouble Zhejiang’s defense. The visitors sealed the result deep into stoppage time when Tao Qianglong tapped home following a swift counterattack.
The victory gives Zhejiang momentum ahead of their next league clash with Changchun Yatai on September 20.
