Asante Kotoko coach Abdul Karim Zito says his team is facing extra pressure this season, insisting every opponent is eager to beat the Porcupine Warriors.
The defeat leaves Kotoko three points behind leaders Aduana FC with 20 points, missing a chance to go top of the Ghana Premier League.
Basake Holy Stars ended Kotoko’s ten-game unbeaten run with a 2-1 win in Ampain, a result Zito says does not reflect the visitors’ usual form.
"The way for every club, we all want to win the league. It's not only Kotoko. Even the way you play here, if that’s how you play every club, then you wouldn't be last," he said.
He added: "Everybody wants to beat Kotoko. That is the nature of the issue. But we didn't play badly. We played good football and created chances. Putting the ball into the net was, once again, the problem. But so far, so good. We are playing the league."
The Reds will next host Medeama SC at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in a key clash for league positioning.
Medeama currently occupy third place with 22 points, while Holy Stars remain 17th in the relegation zone with nine points, highlighting the uphill task ahead.
