As part of efforts to support the creative sector, Fidelity Bank Ghana, in partnership with Akuna Pod, has hosted the “Creators’ Economy Masterclass” for emerging creatives and entrepreneurs.
The masterclass, which forms part of the Bank’s “Orange Inspire” initiative, seeks to provide knowledge, tools and advisory needed to unlock economic value from creative work.
It brought together participants under the theme: “Turning Creativity into Currency” at the Akuna Group headquarters at Labone, Accra.
Mr Kwame Abrokwa, Senior Sustainable Finance Manager at Fidelity Bank, said the event was part of a renewed, data-driven commitment to treat creativity as a catalyst for national development.
He emphasised that the collaboration with Akuna Group was designed to provide the “foundational tools” needed to build bankable brands.
“We are actively working toward a future where creatives have a clear seat at the table, where their businesses can access the same opportunities, respect, and financial structures afforded to more traditional sectors,” he said.
The masterclass featured expert sessions tailored to the unique needs of the creator economy.
Albert Francis Swanzy, Relationship Manager at Fidelity Bank, shared insights on how creators could structure their brands to maximise profits, manage cash flow, and position themselves to be “investor-ready.
Legal Practitioner Evelyn Bediakoh-Adu tackled Intellectual Property rights, highlighting how protecting creative assets was essential for monetisation and long-term value creation.
Mariam Kaleem A-Buahin, Chief Operating Officer of Akuna Group, outlined the company’s role in driving capacity building and providing physical and digital infrastructure across Africa.
“Everything we do here is to enable and to ensure that everyone who believes they are creative can find a place for themselves,” she said.
She highlighted the Akuna Wallet as a tool for financial inclusion, allowing creators to receive payments globally, and detailed the group’s investment in physical studios across Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania.
“At the end of the day, creators are entrepreneurs. You just need an ecosystem around you to take you to the next level. And that next level is where we want to come in, to be that intersection of what your next level looks like,” she added.
The AkunaPod Creative Hub is a dynamic space dedicated to nurturing Africa’s creative economy by providing content creators, actors, musicians and storytellers with the tools, resources and environment to thrive.
It bridges creativity with business and financial sustainability while connecting Africa’s creative talent to global markets and platforms.
