Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has expressed confidence that Ghana is well-positioned to make a significant impact at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions secured their place at the global tournament on Sunday following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, topping Group I with 25 points.
Speaking after the Black Stars’ fifth World Cup qualification, Adams, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Buem constituency, described the upcoming tournament as “an African World Cup” and said he believes Ghana has what it takes to lift the trophy.
"I see the 2026 World Cup as an African World Cup, and Ghana is poised to win," Kofi Adams told GHOne TV.
Ghana’s best showing at the World Cup came in 2010 when the team reached the quarterfinals, narrowly missing out on the semifinals.
Notably, Morocco became the first African country to reach the semifinals in the 2022 edition in Qatar.
The Black Stars will learn their group stage opponents on December 5 as preparations begin for what promises to be a landmark tournament.
