Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko credited Abdul Salam, Manuel Mantey, and Godknows Dzakpasu for their strong performances after the team’s dramatic 2-1 victory over Dreams FC at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Friday evening.
The Mauves and Yellows climbed to the top of the Ghana Premier League table following a late twist that saw a 92nd-minute own goal seal all three points in front of their home fans. Medeama started brightly, taking the lead in the 19th minute through Abdul Salam, who finished off a fine team move. However, Dreams FC hit back just before halftime when Christian Owusu scored from a set piece to level the game.
With both sides pushing for a winner, Medeama’s late pressure paid off when a defensive mix-up from Dreams led to an own goal deep into stoppage time.
Reflecting on the key performers, Tanko said: “Oh, I think I always tell them that each of them can start at any time because they all have a quality and I I'm happy that these three and play did very well and then we won the three points. So, and I think um the whole team did well in the second half, not only the three.”
Medeama face Samartex next in the league.
