Sports Minister Kofi Adams has declared that Ghana's final World Cup qualifier against Comoros should be treated as a celebration rather than a decisive match, stating that the Black Stars have effectively already qualified for the 2026 tournament.
Speaking after Ghana's emphatic 5-0 victory over Central African Republic, the Buem MP explained that the team's massive goal difference makes qualification mathematically certain.
"The goal difference is huge, and it is not possible for Madagascar to go to Mali and beat them by 8-0, and then we will lose by 8-0. It's just not possible," Adams stated.
The Sports Minister emphasised that Sunday's match at the Accra Sports Stadium should focus on appreciating the players' efforts throughout the qualification campaign.
"Sunday is just for us to get to the stadium to celebrate the players," he said. "They will play for us, but we, the supporters, must come to the stadium to celebrate them."
Adams urged fans to turn out in large numbers on October 12 to create a festive atmosphere of pride and support, rather than one of pressure, marking Ghana's return to the World Cup stage after their dominant qualifying performance.
