Buem Member of Parliament, Kofi Adams, has said that the Performance Tracker launched by the government contains inaccurate information.
For instance, he notes that on the tracker, it is stated that work at the St Augustine House, House 1 at the Bishop Herman College in Kpando, Volta Region, is 100 percent complete.
However, he said a visit to the school recently showed that this information is false.
Speaking on the Ghana Tonight show on TV3 on Wednesday, April 10, he said “To come to my own school, Bishop Herman College where I attended, they are reporting that St Augutisne’s House, House 1 that works in that house is 100 percent complete but I was in the school just on Tuesday 26 March 2024, that project and nothing has happened to it.
“For the government to spend our money to report that in Bishop Herman College, St Augustine’s House, House 1 has been completed 100 percent is another lie. The best way to measure our performance will be in our pockets. We will not spend money to go and follow a tracker or a performance wtracker that is deceptive or will mention things that do not exist.”
The Performance Tracker was launched in Accra on Wednesday, April 10.
With over 13,000 projects across 261 districts, 28 ministries, and 16 regions, this platform monitors government performance nationwide.
Minister of Works and Housing Kojo Oppong Nkrumah who presented the document said that the launch marked another milestone in transparency and accountability.
“It’s user-friendly, with both website and mobile interfaces,” the foGoase Ayirebi lawmaker said.
Built upon the Delivery Tracker of 2020, he added “it reflects our commitment to continuously improve.”
“Congratulations to VP Bawumia for this initiative. I encourage all to use it for informed governance participation,” the former Information Minister wrote on his X platform.
During the launch at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) Mr Oppong Nkrumah who presented the tracker stated that “the tracker is a database to showcase projects by the government”.
During his presentation, the Minister said, “most of the time what people says is that what does government use my taxpayers’ money for? Well, this App will help you find whatever projects the government is using your money for”.
“This government is the digitalization government and the general public can personally check with their phones, the status of the projects and even make a physical inspection if they wish to do so,” the Ofaose Ayirebi lawmaker said.
