“Woe, destruction, ruin, and decay; the worst is death and death will have his day”.
– Shakespeare: Richard II
How can you tie the mouths of the bloggers when you yourselves are throwing dust at one another? That was a friend of ours giving his opinion about Kelvin Taylor’s tirades against NPP flagbearer hopefuls and the salvoes they are throwing at each other.
Kelvin Taylor whose identity is not very clear says if you meet an Asante man who supports NPP and a red eyed cobra, tie the Asante man and let the cobra be, because some Asantes brought NPP to power and their government was enmeshed in corruption and open thievery.
Exposing Bryan Acheampong’s 10 sins, the maverick journalist Kelvin Taylor says the revelation came from Bawumia’s camp: in retaliation for Bryan criticising Bawumia for his mea culpa:
Bawumia: “After the 2024 elections, we have done our research. We know the NPP government and the party made a lot of mistakes in governance. There were things we needed to do which we didn’t, and others we did that, if we had the benefit of background (hindsight), we would not have done them. We are all to be blamed Vice President, Ministers, MPs, Board Chairman, Appointees. We have all made mistakes and, please, forgive us. We have learnt our lessons. If by the grace of God, you make me the flagbearer and I became the President, they will not happen again”.
It all happened during the 3 – day Zonal Constituency Executives Engagement in the Ashanti Region held recently.
This was one apology which a lot of Ghanaians were eagerly waiting for, though someone like Gyambibi notes; “Mistakes? Wrong apology. It should be rephrased: Forgive us for our crass incompetence and cluelessness, looting of state coffers and properties, empty slogans, unbridled corruption, inability to run state institutions, bankrupting the economy. Tell these to Ghanaians with sincerity and maybe, just maybe, they will forgive you and kiss you. Goodbye for EVER!”
Bryan Acheampong retaliated: “Aka 9 – p?? In seven regions, our Presidential Candidate, did not win a single constituency. In Western Region, we won a single one: in Central Region, we won 2, …. all of the North, we lost … he said he was going to bring the Zongo votes, did he? … The NDC had 56%, you think they will be satisfied with their results and sit down idly?”
Then, bingo, the Bawumia team charged at Brayan claiming 10 sins committed by Bryan: he was the master-mind behind the Ayawaso electoral violence; he orchestrated Adu Boahene’s removal through Anas; he instigated the “Kan Must Go” agenda to weaken government; he attempted the illegal acquisition of SSNIT hotels, he plotted the removal of Kan Dapaah from office; he engineered the Kan Dapaah uncensored video (where Kan Dapaah was seen in a compromising situation with a lady); he hoarded rice and fertiliser meant for NPP MPs, before the 2024 elections; withheld funds allocated for the 2024 general elections; seized lands from innocent citizens without compensation .
For Kennedy Agyapong the Bawumia Camp released the following: in 2008 Kennedy spoke on radio urging Ghanaians to “harm” J. J. Rawlings and family; in 2008, he recruited thugs for the General Elections; In 2012, he declared war by Ashanti’s on Gas and Ewes saying so openly on radio; he called the leadership of NPP fools: he exclaimed, “I don’t understand why I belong to this party of fools”; In 2016, he accused Charlotte Osei of trading sex for her position as Chair of the Electoral Commission; In 2017, he alleged that Akufo-Addo did not win the 2016 election fairly; in 2019, he revealed the identity of Ahmed Suale and incited the public against him which got him murdered; in 2019, he described Parliament (of which he was a member) as cheap and useless; in 2020, he verbally abused a judge of the Superior Court (“land acquired for 15 years, a “stupid” judge granted injunction on same”); he stood on his own TV to call for Erastus Asare Donkor to be beaten.
The 10 sins of Adutwum also landed after he had warned Bawumia against the Bawumia’s “sorry” speech:
The Bawumia camp accuses Adutwum of 10 sins: he inflated the free SHS enrolment figures from 3.5 million to 5.7 million for procurement benefits; he paid GH?57 million to Busu Internet despite no work being done; he masterminded the removal of Prof. Opoku Amankwaa to extend his control and micro-management of GES; he appropriated all government contracts under his Ministry to himself; he engaged in serial womanizing with office staff despite being an Elder of the Pentecost Church; he sidelined and undermined all pro-Napo appointees in his ministry; he attempted to award his girlfriend a contract worth US$250,000 monthly after the NPP had lost the general election; he supplied Ghanaian students with expired rice; he diverted US$ 2.5m meant for GALOP projects; he set up a cabal to sell placement and teaching slots.
Why all these negative developments in a party which had been touted as a beacon of democracy? This self-destruction began when Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong were axed from the party as Chairman and General Secretary (while Afoko has decided to stay non-committal, Kwabena Agyapong has wormed his way back into the NPP fold).
Then Alan Kyerematen was titillated to move together with party gurus like Alhaji
Saddique Boniface, Hopeson Adorye, Lawyer Buabeng Asamoah and Otiko Afisa.
The arrogance of the party began to show, none looking at the vital need for cohesion. Like the North American rat-snake which eats itself to death, the party now displays its cannibalistic tendencies.
So, what is happening is that while one takes the issue this way, the other would take it that way. Those who dare criticise the party’s progress are labelled with negative tags. Dictators can arise out of the blue, but it is those surrounding him who give him fetters. You will ask whether this is the same “democratic” party that was helped to grow by J. B. Danquah, Abrefa Busia, R. R. Amponsa, Victor Owusu, Odoi Sykes, Prof. Adu Boahen, Haruna Esseku, and our own John Agyekum Kufuor.
You may hate to listen to Abronye (the filthy words from him) or Kwasi Kwarteng or Owusu-Bempah who support Kennedy Agyapong … how are they helping the NPP? Anyone who thinks everything is going to be smooth-sailing for NPP towards 2028 is living in a f…. paradise. The signs are there, and the small boys in the party are making so much noise, ruining the party with their ill-gotten wealth!
