Antoine Semenyo and Mohammed Kudus continued to fly the Ghanaian flag high in the Premier League over the weekend, both earning places in Alan Shearer’s latest Team of the Week after decisive performances for their clubs.
Semenyo was the star of the show as Bournemouth produced a remarkable 3-1 comeback win over Fulham.
The 25-year-old winger netted twice to overturn a first-half deficit, first levelling the score with a powerful finish before capping off the victory with a clinical strike on the counter.
His brace took him to six goals and three assists this season â and to 26 overall in his Premier League career, surpassing Tony Yeboah to become Ghana’s second-highest scorer in the competition’s history.
Premier League legend Alan Shearer, announcing his Team of the Week, praised Semenyo for his consistency and evolution, remarking that the Bournemouth forward “has gone to another level” this season.
Tottenham’s Mohammed Kudus also earned a place in Shearer’s XI after inspiring his side to a 2-1 win at Leeds United.
The 25-year-old scored his first goal for Spurs after providing an assist for the opener, taking his tally to four assists â the joint-most in the league.
Kudus’ pace, creativity, and composure have quickly made him a vital part of Thomas Frank’s attack in North London.
Young defender Josh Acheampong, who has Ghanaian descent, also featured in the Team of the Week following a composed display for Chelsea in their 1-0 win over Liverpool.
The teenager impressed in a depleted backline, earning Shearer’s commendation for his “mature performance” before an unfortunate injury cut his game short.
Together, the trio underscored Ghana’s growing influence in the Premier League as key performers across different clubs and positions.
