Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito says they aim to qualify for the group phase of the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
The Ghanaian side qualified for the next round of the competition following a 5-3 scoreline against Nigerian side Kwara United.
Kotoko will now face Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club in the second round of the preliminary round of games.
Speaking in an interview, Zito reaffirmed his belief in the team’s ability to go far despite acknowledging the difficulty of the task.
“Our target is to qualify for the group stages. In football, nothing is impossible, even though it will be difficult,” he told Akoma FM.
“I’m not thinking about WAC at the moment; my focus is on Heart of Lions."
The coach also expressed his desire for the decisive clash to be played in Kumasi, where Kotoko traditionally command massive fan support.
“I would prefer that we play Wydad AC in Kumasi, but if it ends up in Accra, we’re fine with it.”
“I will call on the fans to always come in their numbers and support us. When they are huge, it gives us so much confidence," he added.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will now shift their attention to the Ghana Premier League with a home game against Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium in the Matchday 4 games this weekend.
