‘Strengthen agribusiness with technologies

 The founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Azalix Busi­ness Media, Mr Alqama Arif, has stressed the need for the government to provide farmers in the agribusiness industry with the needed technologies.

He said that providing farm­ers with the needed technol­ogies would help enhance the agribusiness industry, improve yields, and ensure food security.

Mr Arif said this in an inter­view with The Ghanaian Times on the sidelines of the opening of the West Africa Agri Show (WAAS), Ghana 2025 and the 2nd Annual Livestock Day 2025, held at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Wednesday.

The two-day event, which was organised by Azalix Busi­ness Media, was aimed at en­hancing agricultural innovation, networking, and collaboration between agribusinesses in the West Africa sub region.

Mr Arif said, “We can im­prove agribusiness or agricul­ture in Ghana and the West Africa sub region by providing farmers with the technologies they need to enhance their work,”

“By providing them with these technologies through the support of the government and other stakeholders, we can improve agricultural yields and ensure food security;” he added.

Mr Arif noted that West Africa, including Ghana, had a lot of potential in the area of agribusiness and livestock but did not have the global platform to showcase such potential.

He noted that it was for such a reason that Azalix Busi­ness Media decided to choose Ghana, under the auspices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), to host this year’s event.

“We saw that West Africa has a lot of potential if we talk about agribusiness and live­stock, but we didn’t see a global level of platform which gave West Africa the opportunity to meet all these potential on a single platform,” Mr Arif said.

The event featured confer­ences and the exhibition of innovations in the agribusi­ness industry. It also attracted various stakeholders, including buyers, investors, government representatives, researchers, and policymakers
