Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has said playing three Ghana Premier League games in eight days is unfair and leaves players exhausted.
The Porcupines, who recently took part in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round, have had to juggle midweek fixtures with Sunday league matches, creating a congested timetable.
Kotoko’s recent results reflect the toll. They beat Hearts of Oak 1-0 on November 9, drew 0-0 with Vision three days later, and held Aduana FC to a goalless draw on November 16.
Zito admitted that fatigue affected preparations. “I saw tiredness within the boys and this is the league, we have to play,” he said after the Aduana clash.
He also called on the Ghana FA to review fixture spacing. “Wednesday-Sunday, we are not Europeans. They have energy, what they eat and the tablet they take⦠Seriously, I don’t think it’s fair,” he added.
Kotoko, now sixth with 16 points, face Young Apostles in their outstanding fixture on November 19, aiming to recover points despite the demanding schedule.
