The Chief of staff, Julius Debrah, has commissioned a Nutrifoods Ghana Limited upgraded canmaking line with an investment value of more than US$500,000 at its culinary plant in Tema Industrial Area.
The facility-enhancement is expected to further strengthen Nutrifoods’ safety controls, reinforce quality assurance and guarantee consumers quality products.
It will also allow the company to expand production capacity and maintain a consistent 24-hour production schedule, aligned with government’s 24-hour economy initiative to sustain employment and economic growth.
The Chief of staff in his remarks commended the private entity for the over-2,000 jobs it has created in its value chain through a 24-hour operations model.
He indicated that government’s comprehensive programme for industry being developed by the trade and industry ministry will bring on board additional incentives and efficient value chain support to boost productivity in manufacturing and the private sector generally.
Touching on the company importing raw tomato paste for production from China and USA, he indicated that while local production capacity is huge, local supply chain changes remain a challenge which the comprehensive programme will address in collaboration with all stakeholders.
“In the comprehensive programme that we are coming up with, government is strongly considering value addition to local raw materials so the issue of food glut as we are seeing lately will not exist because demand is high,” he said.
He further encouraged the company to continue complementing government’s industrialisation agenda.
“On behalf of government, we urge you to continue contributing your quota to Ghana’s economic development effort by supporting the broader industrialisation drive and actualising the 24-hour economy,” he added.
Managing Director and Business Head of Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, Jay Anjaria, highlighted that the processing line upgrade demonstrates management’s commitment to consumer safety as well as benchmarking global quality standards across its operations.
“At Nutrifoods, we adopt world-class standards for efficient and responsible production. We hold ourselves to the highest quality benchmarks in developing home-grown brands that meet needs of the Ghanaian market. Our products are proudly Ghanaian-nurtured from ideation to execution – born in Ghana, made for Africa,” he noted.
Mr. Anjaria also highlighted Nutrifoods’ commitment to job creation and continued investment in building the intellectual and technical capacity required to support the future of manufacturing excellence in Ghana.
Nutrifoods reiterated its commitment to consumers; saying that its manufacturing processes remain fully compliant with all regulatory requirements – reflecting its longstanding promise to deliver food made with integrity, aligned with its core values of responsibility, transparency and consumer trust.
Julius Debrah was accompanied on the tour by Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare and other officers from the trade ministry.
