Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has commended his players despite failing to win the ultimate at the just-ended WAFU B U-17 Championship.
After a disappointing start to the tournament, Ghana booked a place in the final by beating Nigeria in the semifinals.
However, against hosts country Ivory Coast, in the final, the Black Starlets suffered a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat after the game ended 0-0 in regulation time.
Despite missing out on winning gold, the former Asante Kotoko gaffer praised the players for their great character and determination despite their shaky start.
“These boys have shown great character and determination," Ogum said after the game.
"To reach the final and qualify for the AFCON after such a long time is a step in the right direction.
"We will continue to build and prepare them well for the challenge in Morocco," he added.
Meanwhile, Ghana has qualified for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, which has been scheduled to be hosted in Morocco.
