Antoine Semenyo has written his name into Ghanaian football history books after surpassing the legendary Tony Yeboah to become the country’s second-highest scorer in Premier League history.
The Bournemouth forward achieved the milestone with a stunning brace in their 3-1 comeback victory over Fulham at the Vitality Stadium on Friday night.
Semenyo’s double took his Premier League tally to 26 goals â two more than Yeboah’s 24 â while also lifting his season total to six.
The Ghanaian winger continues to shine as one of the league’s standout performers, sitting only behind Erling Haaland, who has scored eight times so far this campaign.
He also provided an assist on the night, bringing his total to three, trailing only Jack Grealish in that category.
The 25-year-old has now featured in 88 league matches, 41 more than Yeboah’s 47 appearances during his three memorable seasons with Leeds United in the 1990s.
His consistency has seen him average a goal every three Premier League games, a remarkable record for a player still in his mid-twenties.
Semenyo is now chasing Ghana’s all-time Premier League top scorer, Jordan Ayew, who has netted 42 goals in 305 appearances.
Behind them, Jeffrey Schlupp sits fourth with 22 goals, just ahead of former Ghana captain André Ayew, cementing the Black Stars’ enduring legacy in English football.
