Ghanaian coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor bounced back from the opening day defeat to lead Gor Mahia to victory in their game against Sofapaka in the Kenyan Premier League on Saturdy.
Akonnor, who took over as coach of the Kenyan giants in August, showed tactical masterclass in the game on the road at the Dandora Stadium, starting summer signing Ebenezer Adukwa.
The Ghanaian forward repaid the manager with a brace, a goal at either side of the half, as Gor Mahia strolled to a 2-0 victory to secure their first win of the campaign.
Gor Mahia dominated the game from the start and halfway into the first half, Adukwa brilliantly finished a superb move by visitors to ensure the head into the break with the lead.
Adukwa then added his second with a worldie after striking the ball from 40 yards to beat Sofapak's goalkeeper.
The victory lifts Akonnor's team to fourth place in the league ahead of the trip to Kenya Commercial Bank next week.
The former Ghana coach is hoping to lead The Might Kogalos to league success in his first campaign in Kenya.
