Jeremy Doku lit up the Etihad with another thrilling display as Manchester City eased past Burnley 5-1 in the Premier League.
The Belgian-Ghanaian winger was at his dazzling best, completing seven dribbles and winning ten duels, the most by any player on the pitch. His late assist for Erling Haaland capped off a performance that had City fans on their feet.
The game began with a stroke of fortune when Maxime Esteve turned Doku’s effort into his own net after 12 minutes. Burnley hit back through Jaidon Anthony, whose strike deflected past Donnarumma to level the score. City, however, grew stronger in the second half. Matheus Nunes volleyed home following Haaland’s knockdown to restore their lead, before Esteve endured more misery with a second own goal.
Doku then drove at Burnley’s defense again, slipping a clever pass for Haaland to score his first, before the Norwegian doubled his tally in added time. With three assists in six league games, Doku is proving to be a vital spark for Pep Guardiola’s side. City now look ahead to their Champions League clash with Monaco.
