Justin Kumi had a day to remember as he scored his first Serie B goal in Avellino’s 2-0 win over Virtus Entella on Saturday.
The 21-year-old Italian-Ghanaian midfielder started strongly, controlled the middle of the park, and was rewarded with a goal that delighted the home fans at the Stadio Partenio-Adriano Lombardi.
The match began with Avellino on the front foot, and Tommaso Biasci wasted no time putting them ahead in the 9th minute with a well-taken volley from Tommaso Cancellotti’s assist. Virtus Entella tried to respond, but they struggled to create clear chances against Avellino’s compact defense.
The moment of the afternoon arrived in the 68th minute. Entella goalkeeper Federico Del Frate, on his Serie B debut, mishit a clearance that struck Kumi. The midfielder kept his composure and slotted into an empty net, sealing the win and sending the Avellino supporters into celebration.
Kumi, on loan from Sassuolo, lasted 85 minutes and earned warm applause when substituted. Avellino now look ahead to their next league clash against Padova on September 30.
