The Ghana Embassy in the Ivory Coast paid a motivational visit to the Black Starlets in Yamoussoukro on Friday, just before their decisive WAFU Zone B U17 AFCON qualifying match against Niger.
The team went on to secure a crucial 1-0 victory, booking a place in the semifinals after a slow start that saw them earn only one point from their first two games.
The delegation, led by Head of Chancery Nana Akua MacCarthy, aimed to inspire the players to give their all in the crucial encounter. She was accompanied by the Embassy’s Accountant, Kate Goodlow, and Confidential Secretary, Priscilla Odai.
Travelling from Abidjan shortly before kick-off, the officials met the players and technical staff, encouraging them to remain focused, disciplined, and determined. They also presented the team with assorted Ghanaian dishes, giving the young players a comforting taste of home after several weeks away.
The visit underscored the Embassy’s full support as the Black Starlets continue their campaign, with the ultimate goal of reaching the U17 Africa Cup of Nations final.
