Sports Minister Kofi Adams has expressed significant dissatisfaction with the Black Stars' performances in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, stating that head coach Otto Addo's work does not deserve praise despite Ghana leading Group I with 19 points.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Adams highlighted the team's inconsistency, pointing specifically to their recent 1-1 draw against Chad as evidence of concerning form.
"Very soon, AFCON is going to start in Morocco. Are we going to be part of it? No, we will watch on TV," Adams remarked, referencing Ghana's failure to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The minister emphasised that World Cup qualification remains uncertain, noting that the team still needs "a win and at least a draw" from their final two matches to secure their place.
Adams acknowledged that Addo has taken responsibility for tactical errors but questioned how long this pattern would continue.
"If I tell you I am impressed, then it means I do not know my job. I am not. There is a lot of room for improvement," Adams stated, making clear that results alone do not justify satisfaction with the team's direction under the current coaching staff.
The Black Stars will finish their qualifying campaign with an away match against Central African Republic on October 8 before hosting Comoros on October 11, needing four points to guarantee World Cup qualification.
