Following Mali's 1-0 defeat to Ghana in World Cup qualifying, Mali head coach Tom Saintfiet emphasised Ghana's superior talent pool as the decisive factor that should secure their World Cup qualification.
The Belgian tactician specifically highlighted Ghana's depth of quality players as what separates them from other contenders in Group I.
"Ghana has so many quality players," Saintfiet stated in his post-match press conference. "Look at where the players are playing, look at the choices the coach has on the bench, look at the players who weren't selected and available - so in theory, there can't be any problem for Ghana to qualify as number one."
The comments came after Ghana's hard-fought victory maintained their position at the top of Group I with 19 points, putting them three points clear of Madagascar and four ahead of Comoros with two matches remaining.
Saintfiet's analysis underscores the general consensus that Ghana's roster - featuring numerous players from Europe's top leagues - gives them a significant advantage in the final stretch of qualifying.
Ghana will face Central African Republic on October 8 before hosting Comoros on October 11 in what could be a decisive final match of the qualifying campaign.
According to Saintfiet, Ghana's wealth of talent should make these matches manageable hurdles on their path to the 2026 World Cup in North America.
