Germany-born defender Derrick Arthur Köhn has been handed his debut call-up to play for Ghana.
The left-back is in the Black Stars squad named by coach Otto Addo for the games against Chad and Mali in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next month.
Kohn has been on the radar of the technical team for a while and will now have the opportunity to prove his worth to the Black Stars.
The 26-year-old moved from Galatasaray to Union Berlin this summer, following an eye-catching performance on loan at Werder Bremen last season, which culminated in 27 appearances and 2 goals in the German Bundesliga.
Another notable addition is winger Kamal Deen Sulemana, who has been in fine form at Atalanta after his switch from Southampton. France-based midfielder Elisha Owusu also makes a return after recovering from a long-term injury.
The Ghana squad for the upcoming games features regulars Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, Jordan Ayew, Gideon Mensah, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams.
Young talent Caleb Yirenkyi is rewarded for his strong performances with Danish side FC Nordsjaelland and his impressive showing at the Unity Cup in London.
Defender Tariq Lamptey rejoins the squad, while Christopher Bonsu Baah and Ireland-based goalkeeper Joseph Anang also earn places for the double-header.
The two games are scheduled for September 4 and 8, respectively.
