Administrative Manager for the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Oduro Nyarko, has noted that the association deserves commendation for organising this year’s Top 4 tournament.
Speaking in an interview, the experienced football administrator disclosed that GHALCA faced numerous difficulties in securing a venue for the tournament.
He argued that despite the challenges, the association was determined to see through the tournament, pushing to ensure it came off as planned.
“GHALCA needs to be applauded for organising this year’s Top Four tournament because they went through a lot of difficulties getting even a venue to play the tournament,” Oduro Nyarko said as quoted by MetroTV online.
The 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Kumasi at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
However, due to ongoing renovation works, the tournament had to be moved to the Accra Sports Stadium.
Just days to the tournament, GHALCA was informed that the Accra Sports Stadium cannot host it due to the upcoming Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup qualification match against Mali.
As a result, GHALCA had to quickly move to secure the University of Ghana Stadium before the start of the tournament on Wednesday, August 20.
This year's tournament features Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars, Heart of Lions, Asante Kotoko, and Hearts of Oak.
