Ghana forward Ransford-Yeboah Konigsdorffer has expressed excitement after scoring the match-winner for Hamburger SV in their DFB Pokal first round game against FK Primasens.
The 23-year-old put behind him a difficult summer transfer window to inspire the Bundesliga returnees to the second round of the Cup competition after heading home the winner in extra time.
The topflight side conceded early in the second half after Yannick Griess had give the fifth-tier side the lead.
However, Guilherme Ramos forced the match to extra time after scoring late in regulation time.
"Today was not what we expected. We didn’t play our best game, that much is clear, but cup games are always different and today was a classic Pokal scrap. In the end, we did it; we made lots of steps forward during pre-season and now look forward to the start of the Bundesliga," said Konigsdorffer after the game.
The Berlin-born forward will make his Bundesliga debut against Borussia Monchengladbach on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
The striker, who is expected to return to the Black Stars team for September's World Cup qualifiers was close to joining OGC Nice in the transfer window.
