CAF has rolled out a revised set of inspection protocols under its newly formed Infrastructure Department, aimed at improving transparency and efficiency in the stadium approval process for CAF and FIFA competitions.
Under the new system, Member Associations planning to use a non-approved stadium must first submit a âpre-inspection’ through their National Club Licensing Manager (CLM) using CAF’s CLOP platform. CAF will then decide whether a full-scale on-site inspection is necessary.
If required, a CAF-appointed independent team of infrastructure, turf, and safety experts will visit the facility, with the requesting association covering all travel and logistical costs. Final approval will be based on the experts’ report, with written justification provided for any rejection.
CAF has warned that late submissions, including requests less than two months before a scheduled match, may not be entertained. The changes are intended to help Member Associations plan early and bring stadiums in line with international standards.
