Bibiani GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso has urged the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to secure additional sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League following its new partnership with Adesa Productions.
While welcoming the initiative, he believes more financial backing is needed to enhance the league’s competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
The GHS 1 million funding for each club, announced as part of the broadcast deal with Adesa Productions on Thursday, comes ahead of the 2025/26 season and is intended to support pre-season preparations.
GFA President Kurt Okraku also disclosed that the agreement includes position-based rewards to be distributed at the end of the campaign.
Manso, who led Bibiani GoldStars to their first-ever Premier League title, says the early injection is timely, particularly for clubs preparing for continental football. However, he emphasized that it should be viewed as a starting point.
“Although you cannot say that one million Ghana cedis will be enough for the entire duration of the league, for me, I think it's a very good start,” Manso told Joy Sports.
“Maybe going forward, they might get another sponsorship and then add up; it will make the league very, very competitive.”
GoldStars will learn their Champions League preliminary opponents on August 12.
