Prince Osei Owusu scores again but CF Montreal fall short against Philadelphia Union
Prince Osei Owusu was on target once more, but it wasnt enough as CF Montreal slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Philadelphia Union in Round 23 of Major League Soccer.The German-Ghanaian forward gave Montral fans a moment to cheer just before halftime, finishing smartly in the 45 2 minute from close range after Joel Watermans well-placed cross. That equalizer cancelled out Tai Baribos opener for the hosts in the 37th minute.Owusu, who played the full 90 minutes, impressed with four total shots, one of which struck the woodwork, and was a constant threat throughout. He now has ten goals and two assists in 23 league appearances.But Philadelphia regained the lead early in the second half through Olwethu Makhanyas precise header in the 50th minute, which proved to be the winner on the night at Subaru Park.The defeat leaves Montral with work to do, as they shift focus to their next fixture against Chicago Fire FC on July 19th.The all-time record between the two sides now reads 12 wins for Philadelphia, 11 for Montral, and 10 draws.
