Agyemang-Badu slams Justice Blay over Kotoko allegations: â??Unnecessary and disappointingâ?
Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has criticised Justice Blay over his recent outburst against Asante Kotoko, describing the comments as unfortunate and unnecessary.Blay, who rejoined Kotoko in 2022, was released by the club last month after being deemed surplus to requirements for the upcoming season. In an interview with Kumasi-based Pure FM, the midfielder made startling claims against some of his former teammates, alleging alcoholism within the camp and accusing two players, Joseph Ablor and Camara Mohammed, of engaging in smoking. He also claimed Camara snatched his girlfriend, and that striker Kwame Opoku took over his relationship with a sugar mummy he had introduced to him.Reacting to the saga on Luv FMs Sports Blitz Xtra, Agyemang-Badu said Blays decision to go public with those allegations only damaged his own image, especially given the trust and admiration he once enjoyed from Kotoko fans. When they level all allegations against you, you want to come out and just defend yourself. But he has to know he is a leader. It didn't happen yesterday. And you were able to keep it calm until now. When you are leaving, you want to just mess up all the good things you have done for Kotoko, Badu said.He added: I understand his emotions. Maybe they have levelled a lot against him. When you want to defend, you cause unnecessary attention to yourself. So it is just unfortunate and unnecessary.Following the widespread backlash, Justice Blay later issued a public apology, saying he regretted the way his comments were received and did not intend to damage the image of the club or individuals involved.Meanwhile, Kotokos Communications Director, Safo Duku, has confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing and an official statement may be released soon.Justice Blays contract was terminated by mutual agreement, ending his second spell with the Porcupine Warriors.
