2024 WAFCON: Game against Ghana is very important â?? Tanzania coach
Tanzania head coach Bakari Shime says his side is determined to claim all three points when they face Ghana in their final Group C clash at the 2024 Womens Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.Speaking ahead of the must-win encounter, Shime described the game as crucial for both teams but admitted the stakes are even higher for his side.Tomorrow, well play the last group game or the last game in the tournament, Shime said. This is a very, very important game for both teams, especially us. We have one point, and we look forward to getting the three points so that we make it to the next round.Tanzania impressed in their last outing, holding defending champions South Africa to a 1-1 draw and nearly snatching all three points. That performance has given the East Africans belief that they can overcome Ghana and progress. We know about Ghana, we followed their last two games, Shime added. We want to walk away with three points. We want to move forward. If we manage to get the three points, then we shall be able to achieve our objective.Ghana, who have also collected just one point after two matches, are in a similar position. A loss or draw would see them exit the competition, while victory could see them qualify either as group runners-up or one of the best third-placed teams. The decisive fixture kicks off at 19:00 GMT on Monday, July 14, 2025, at the Stade Municipal de Berkane.
