Takoradi, April 01, GNA - The six Port Health Stations in the Western Region last year screened 334,000 passengers and inspected 6,289 conveyances.
The six Port Health Stations mostly engaged in conveyance, surveillance, food inspection, sanitation and hygiene as well as vaccination activities.
Dr Jacob Mahama, the Western Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Takoradi said more than 100 corpses were inspected last year.
Also, the directorate in the year under review carried out 3500 vaccinations in Elubo and Takoradi and over 260 tons of food, meat and poultry inspected and declared fit for human use.
According to the Director, the Region did well in coverages of immunisation despite some challenges in other districts.
The Region made a significant leap in polio OPV2 and meningitis coverages from 76.3 percent to 87.6 percent in 2018.
