Reggae artiste and media personality, Blakk Rasta, has advised Ghanaian musicians to invest in their careers to raise the bar to enable them be accorded the deserved recognition as international artistes.
In a discussion on United Showbiz on February 22, 2025, Blakk Rasta said buying cars and houses cannot be categorised as investing in one’s career and craft.
“Ghanaian acts must raise the bar. We have to brand ourselves to the point we are also considered as international artistes. Our artistes are afraid to invest in their craft. We will buy Rolls Royce and you expect that people will come to your show and watch you, no.
“Branding is not about buying Rolls Royce alone, branding is not about acquiring house alone, spend on your career. It is not by force to buy Rolls Royce,” Blakk Rasta noted.
Blakk Rasta further applauded gospel musician Sonnie Badu for his investment in his career and craft.
He called on Ghanaian artistes to emulate Sonnie Badu as an example as far the music industry is concerned.
“Look at Sonnie Badu’s recent concert. Did you see the number of people he paraded on stage? If he is having a show in the UK, look at the kind of people he parades on stage.
“Do you think he makes profits from all the shows he organises? He loses in a lot of them, but the brand is going to be tight. As for us, we would buy Rolls-Royce,” he added.
