
Para-athlete Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe has emerged the 2020 Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Personality of the Year.
An event held at the Alisa Hotel on Saturday, October 10 saw a tall list of winners including Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew, Felix Annan, Richard Commey, and Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah among others.
Raphael Botsyo Nkegbe beat off competition from Richard Oblitey Commey and the 4X100m Relay Team to walk home with the biggest award on the night.
Raphael became the first Ghanaian Para-Athlete to qualify for the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo in 2019.
He won the T54 World Wheelchair 100m race with a new personal best of 14.22s at the Desert Challenge Games in Arizona, USA, to earn the Tokyo slot.
A dedicated athlete, in 2018, he led a revolt at the Commonwealth Games in Australia after management had not fully paid the 72 Ghanaian athletes their $2,300 allowances of $100 per diem for 23 days.
