President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked persons who are violating the Covid-19 safety protocols to desist from doing so since their actions go against the laws.
He said during an address to the nation on Sunday, August 30 that the law enforcement agencies will deal with such persons without fear or favour.
“Let me remind those among us who want to continue to disregard the safety protocols that severe sanctions exist in our laws for such persons who will want to endanger the rest of the population through their actions and negligence.
“The law enforcement agencies will, when necessary, apply these measures without fear or favor, ill-will or malice, and without recourse to a person’s ethnicity, gender or religion.”
The president further reopened the Kotoka International Airport after he said it is now safe to do so.
The airport was closed as a measure to curtail the spread of the coronavirus.
President Akufo-Addo said “I indicated my hope that preparation and simulation exercises which were underway including the installation of Covid-19 testing facilities at Kotoka International airport will give us a clear indication as to whether or not we could reopen the airport in 1st September.
“After weeks of through work I am satisfied that is safe to do so.”
He, however, stated that land and sea borders will remain closed.
