Asante Kotoko coach, Abdul Karim Zito, has disclosed the reason for his side's abysmal display in the CAF Confederation Cup against Wydad Athletic Club.
The Porcupine Warriors were battered 6-1 on aggregate as the FA Cup winners shamefully bowed out of the competition in the second round.
Zito, who wants his players to recover quickly from their Africa adventure, stated that the Reds lacked the consistency to compete against the big boys.
“We lack a lot of things but the most important is the consistency we don’t have. This team was built about five to six months ago," he said ahead of the game against Karela United.
“You can easily see that they [Wydad] they are there for about three, four seasons. It’s about team work not about individual players.
“All we need now is to be consistent in our team building; consistency goes with quality. Once injuries, transfers set in definitely you won’t get the consistency," he added.
Kotoko also lost their best player Albert Amoah after the match in Morocco following his transfer to Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi.
The Reds have the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup to compete for in the 2015/26 season.
