Medeama returned to the top of the Ghana Premier League table after edging Swedru All Blacks 1-0 at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa on Sunday.
It was a much-needed win for the Mauves and Yellows, who had dropped points at home against Samartex the previous weekend. Head coach Ibrahim Tanko’s confidence before the game was reflected in his team’s performance, as they showed composure, dominated key moments, and kept a clean sheet.
The only goal of the match came in the 70th minute when Kamaradini Mamudu found the net with a great finish that calmed the home fans and gave Medeama control. The hosts managed the game well afterward, limiting All Blacks to few chances and defending their slender lead resolutely.
Statistically, Medeama enjoyed 55 percent possession compared to All Blacks’ 45 percent. They registered 13 total shots with eight on target, while the visitors managed just three attempts, two of which troubled the goalkeeper. The numbers underlined Medeama’s superiority and attacking intent throughout the encounter.
The victory gives Medeama a three-point cushion at the top of the table. They will next travel to Hohoe to face Hohoe United, while Swedru All Blacks, now sitting 13th, return home to take on Heart of Lions.
