The former Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Osei Assibey Antwi, has filed a fresh application seeking a variation of his bail conditions, in a bid to secure temporary freedom, as he continues to fight charges brought against him.
The latest application yet to be determined by the court is the second attempt by the former NSS boss to review what his lawyers describe as stringent bail terms.
Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi was initially granted bail in the sum of GH¢800 million with six sureties, all to be justified.
On November 12, 2025, the High Court reviewed the amount downward to GH¢623 million, but maintained the same surety conditions.
Despite the reduction, Mr Osei Assibey Antwi has still been unable to meet the bail requirements.
The case is being heard by Her Ladyship Kizita Naa Koowa Quarshie, presiding over Criminal Division Five of the High Court in Accra.
In court on Tuesday, Principal State Attorney (PSA) Dufie Prempeh informed the judge that the prosecution had been unable to comply with an earlier order to file disclosures ahead of the scheduled Case Management Conference (CMC).
“Today’s business is for the conduct of CMC. The Republic was directed to file our disclosures before today.
“However, my Lady, due to a few drawbacks regarding our witnesses, we were unable to meet the said deadline.
“We, therefore, humbly pray for an adjournment to enable us comply with the court’s orders. May we suggest 22 December, 2025, subject to your convenience,” she pleaded.
Counsel for the accused, Paa Kwesi Kuboadzi, said they had hoped to receive the prosecution’s docket but had not, adding that they were left with no option but to accept the request for adjournment.
The court noted that an application for variation of bail had indeed been filed by the defence, but the Republic indicated it had not yet sighted the document.
Her Ladyship Quarshie, therefore, adjourned the matter to 11 December, 2025 for consideration of the bail variation application.
The court further granted the prosecution additional time to file all outstanding disclosures and witness statements and serve copies on the defence, stressing that the court must also receive its own set of documents.
The substantive case has been adjourned to 19 January 2026 at 10 a.m. for continuation.
